Every vendor in Saudi Arabia now claims to be "ZATCA-ready." That phrase means different things to different sellers, so here is an honest checklist of what to actually look for when you choose accounting or ERP software — and what questions to ask.
General guidance, not tax advice. Confirm compliance specifics with ZATCA or your advisor.
1. Structured, system-generated invoices
The baseline. Invoices must be generated by the system in a structured form — not typed into a template. If a tool cannot do this reliably, nothing else matters.
2. Handles both invoice types
Make sure it produces standard and simplified tax invoices and routes each correctly. Many businesses need both — here's the difference.
3. Correct, per-item tax treatment
VAT should be driven by the tax treatment on each product or service, not guessed per invoice. This is what keeps your VAT return accurate.
4. Arabic and English documents
E-invoicing centres Arabic. Confirm invoices render correctly in Arabic and English, including the required fields.
5. A real audit trail
Every change recorded and exportable. This turns a compliance review into a lookup. Ask: can I see who changed what, and when?
6. VAT flows into reporting
The tax on documents should roll into VAT-ready reporting automatically. If you still rebuild the return in a spreadsheet, the software is not doing its job.
7. Honest about integration status
This is the big one. Ask vendors directly about their integration status and what applies to your wave — and be wary of anyone who answers with a slogan instead of specifics. "Built for ZATCA workflows" and "fully certified for your exact setup" are different claims; a credible vendor will tell you which one they mean.
8. Clean migration and master data help
You will only go live as cleanly as your data allows. Look for import tools and real migration support — see preparing your master data.
9. It is not only about tax
Tax compliance is necessary but not sufficient. The same system should run your actual business — inventory, purchasing, sales — so your books reflect reality. That is the difference between accounting software and a full ERP.
Where BIZA stands
BIZA App is built for ZATCA e-invoicing workflows, with both invoice types, a POS for B2C, bilingual documents, a full audit log, VAT-ready reporting, and guided migration — inside a complete ERP, not a standalone tax tool. We are also straight about integration status: ask us about your wave and we will give you a real answer.
